Is Tao Group Taking Over Light Nightclub and Daylight Beach Club?
Tao Group is rumored to take over Light Nightclub and Daylight Beach Club. With the recent buy-out of Light Group by Hakkasan Group, this comes as a surprise to many. Here is what Robin issued in the Las Vegas Sun yesterday:
Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte and supermarket mogul Ron Burkle (Fresh & Easy) have reportedly initiated discussions with The Tao Group (Tao at the Venetian, Lavo at Palazzo, Marquee at the Cosmopolitan) to take over management responsibilities of Light Nightclub and Daylight Beach Club at Mandalay Bay.
The two moguls are the largest investors in the two Mandalay Bay clubs, which are operated by The Light Group until the company was sold to rival The Hakkasan Group in a major MGM Resorts property shakeup we reported exclusively here at Vegas DeLuxe on Dec. 12.
In the financial partnership, Guy and Ron hold the decision-making power as to who will manage their property at Mandalay Bay.
A deal for the Tao Group management is not yet finalized, but I’m reliably told that discussions to that end are “progressing well” and likely to be concluded successfully very shortly.
